Jubilee Year of Hope

Let us pray for the Church and all the faithful

who will make a pilgrimage to the Holy Doors.

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son,

Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in

our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds

of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of

a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace

spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever.

Amen.

CTK Kick Off

QUICK FACTS:

What: CTK Kick Off to Celebrate the Beginning of a New Ministry Year

When: September 7, 5-7:30pm

Where: Community Center & Field (Note: Families Enrolled in Faith Formation Need to Start at the Parish Center to Meet their Catechists from 5-5:30pm)

Who: ALL Parish Young Families (Families who have nursery-high school students, regardless of where they attend school)

Why: To Celebrate the Beginning of a New Ministry Year & Bring our Community Together (Registered Faith Formation Families, Christ the King School Families, & Beyond!)

Staff Contact: Katie Aguilar, Pastoral Associate, kaguilar@ctkdallas.org

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Registered Faith Formation Families ONLY: “Meet the Catechists & Find Your Classroom” time is from 5-5:30pm. Meet in the Parish Center.

  • Main Activities:

    • Outside: Food Trucks (Dessert is Free!), Moon bounces + 1 for Littles, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Chalk & Bubbles for Littles, & Sports

    • Inside Community Center Gym: Mary’s Meals (!), Catholic Vendors, Photo Booth, Face Painting, Air Conditioned Seating (!), Kids’ Play Table for Littles, Open Gym (With Area for Littles)

    • Inside Community Center, 2nd Floor Youth Room: High School Area with Mario Kart & Bahama Bucks

  • **Mary’s Meals Fundraiser**

    • Three full “square meals” a day is a given for us, but for millions of children across the globe, hunger is daily reality and threat. Mary’s Meals is putting the Gospel into action, already feeding 2.6 million children in their place of education. Not only does this provide for their most urgent needs, but it adds incentive to receive education which can provide an escape from poverty.

    • The Mary’s Meals Chore Challenge: Every child who attends the CTK Kick Off is asked to meet the challenge of bringing $25.20 (of their own money!) to the Mary’s Meals table in the Community Center. $25.20 is all it takes to feed a child in their place of education for an ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR!

      • Watch this video with your children to teach them about Mary’s Meals. (2 mins 23 seconds)

      • Determine how your child will raise the money: Wash the car, take care of the dishes for the week, babysit the siblings for date night. The point is to do something EXTRA. A donation from a place of sacrifice is a meaningful way to learn the value of taking care of one another.

      • Put the money in an envelop with your last name and amount on the outside.

      • Visit the Mary’s Meals table at the CTK Kick Off to turn in your donations and receive a sticker of thanks for your donation!

Parenting Talks: "Is it all about Sex?" Theology of the Body and the Many Ways it Impacts Your Children

Purpose: The Parenting Talks at Christ the King are designed to help you raise Catholic kids in a modern world. You are not alone in the important task of raising your children! We are a Church community and we are here to support one another!

Theme: This year, our 4-part Parenting Talk Series is on Theology of the Body. These talks will help you understand how to teach Theology of the Body related topics to your children, based on their age.

Speaker: We are thrilled to host Monica Ashour as our Speaker. Monica is the founder and President of TOBET, a prophetic organization dedicated to promoting God’s design for the human person through our bodies. TOBET is a fantastic resource that is right in our backyard (Irving!).

General Schedule:

5:45pm- Childcare Drop off Opens, School Cafeteria (Littles & Elementary) or South Side Community Center (Middle & High School)

6:00pm to 6:45pm:- Talk for Parents of Littles & Elementary in Parish Center

6:45pm to 7:15pm: Dinner Available for All Who RSVP, Cafeteria

7:00pm- Childcare Drop off Opens, School Cafeteria (Littles & Elementary) or South Side Community Center (Middle & High School)

7:15pm to 8:00pm: Talk for Parents of Middle & High School Students in Parish Center

8:15pm: All Childcare Closed, Cafeteria & Southside Community Center

Contact Katie Aguilar, Kaguilar@ctkdallas.org, with any questions.

Unique Features of this Event

  • TWO talks in ONE Evening: Why? The 1st 45 minute talk is dedicated to parents of littles through elementary school-aged children. The 2nd is dedicated to parents of middle and high school-aged children. As these age groups are parented very differently, the talks will be tailored to the specific age group. If you have a child in both categories, please feel free to attend both. The speaker will be attentive to minimize repetitive content.

  • Childcare: We have heard you! Many have noted that providing childcare during events would make them more accessible for parents and families. We’re giving it a go. Here’s how it works:

    • Littles (at least 1 year old) and elementary school children can be dropped off at the school cafeteria up to th 15 minutes before the session. Littles will have toys while older kids will have coloring sheets and watch kids videos from Formed.org.

    • Middle & High School students will be in the Youth Room in the Community Center (and gym when available). They can be dropped off at the Community Center south side door up to 15 minutes before the session.

    • Kids can stay for both sessions.

    • If staying for dinner, littles & elementary students must be picked up and brought to dinner. Middle & high school students will be brought over to the cafeteria.

    • 2nd session, parents must pick up their middle & high school students at the south side Community Center door.

  • Dinner: Going out on a weeknight can be tough. We’re hoping that providing dinner makes it easier for you. Whether you’re just coming for 1 parenting session or both, please feel free to sign up for dinner using the RSVP link.
